Buff coach shows why Coaches don't take safeties intentionally Because they just aren't very smart, and like giving a bad blackjack player options like surrender, they will donk away. GOOD LORD. 4th and 10 from his 1. Around a minute to play. 2 timeouts. Basic StrategY: Go for it. Obvious. Too obvious, but worth a shot: Fake punt. Stupid: Punt Bizarre: Take the saftey, then onside punt hoping the other team does not know it is allowed. A for creativity, but only works vs. an equally dumb coach. Mind Boggling incompetent: Take Safety, AND PUNT OFF!!!!! ..........wow.
i would have punted. miami gets it at the 45ish. 2 timeouts means you get the ball back at best with 40 secs left on own 20. needing around 40 yds it's doable. from the half yard line....4/10...i wouldnt trust Trent at all. taking the saftey was about the worst decision you could make. going from needing a fg to needing a TD is idiocy at its finest.
Tressel ball chapter 1 page 1. Big game you punt in this scenerio, against a directional instate opponent like northwest toledo punt against michigan you go. Didn't see the coaching blunder but I'm not surprised
I'm Crying...... I had Miami BIG on the money line and -2, and I had Buffalo BIG +3.5. I would have loved to see Miami with the ball on the 45 trying to run out the clock in the last 2 minutes. Could've got paid for real.

I'm glad I was on a plane home from watching the national champions. My positions were the. Same as urs cmate. Long season to hit a few more of those

We can surely share a seat on the crying bus my man. That's how middles go I suppose. One random play late in the game gets you in or out of the money. Tampa Bay has a bunch of plays in the last minute of the game against Cle with a 3 point lead inside the 10 yard line, and come out with 0 points to preserve the middle. Go figure.

Announcer said "You just can't risk throwing an incomplete pass there and letting the clock stop." And I always thought the clock stopped on a turnover on downs anyway. Silly me.
