CFL FOOTBALL Playoffs Western Final West Division Final
Under 55.5 Saskatchewan at Calgary
These two West teams squared off three times this season and all three went Over the Total, 60, 80 and 60 points scored. We are not bucking a trend just banking on playoff pressure, playoff atmosphere and the a little help from the weather.
On Wednesday and Thursday for practices they had 6 inches of snow and -15 Celsius temps with 20mph winds and a wind chill at -25 C. On Sunday afternoon in Calgary Alberta, at McMahon Stadium, the temperature and forecast is not as severe and will be somewhere near -6 C and with some wind it will feel like -10, -12, and even though the field is Field Turf, it will feel harder and the slick football will feel like a frozen Butterball turkey, difficult to kick and easy to drop passes, but to be honest I hate betting weather scenarios.
There is a report of the field turf having gaps and rips and if I hear more on that I'll post it. Also, there is a game being played on Saturday, the CIAU West Final ( Canadian University Football) between the Calgary Dinos and Saint Mary's Huskies at McMahon Stadium. (have not found a line on the game, cripes!) I'll try and watch some of the game and maybe get a report on the field conditions that would influence our play, but for now Under 55.5 is the bet.
The Green Riders have the 2nd worst run defense in the CFL and Calgary has a solid duo of RB Joffrey Reynolds and Jon Cornish that are relishing the opportunity to put the Riders away. Saskatchewan played an O.T. game vs the BC Lions LW and Calgary will have not competed in 16 days before Sunday. Could be a sloppy game regardless of the weather.
