Cfl: Grey cup I couldn’t believe my eyes this morning when I saw Greek open this @ 6.5, followed shortly thereafter by the Hilton.
I made the game Montreal -2.5 and was solidly on the side of Saskatchewan. This game is a rematch of last year’s amazing game…won by Montreal on the last play of the game (they attempted the game winning field goal with no time left on the clock…missed, only to see Saskatchewan flagged for too many men on the field. The retry from 5 yards closer was good). So clearly the revenge angle is as strong as one will ever see. Furthermore, the ‘Riders travel better than anyone in the league…they have BY FAR the best fans north of the border. Expect to see an overwhelming sea of green in Commonwealth Stadium (Edmonton). Make no mistake about it, this game on a neutral site will be a virtual home game for the Green Riders. I witnessed this for myself in the ’07 Cup…and that was all the way East in Toronto. Winnipeg fans like myself were few and far between.
At +6.5, when I played it, this was CFL game-of-the-year material. I made it a 4 weight. Since then we have seen money pouring in the same way. There are still 4.5’s available in some places which I would still recommend as a 3 weight. Actually I don’t really think the points will come into play here…look for the Saskatchewan Roughriders to win this one outright, in a typical Grey Cup last minute edge-of-the-seat thriller.
