CFL Thurs Canada Day

CFL Thurs Canada Day July 1st is Canada Day and the start of the football season, CFL style. We'll personally handicap each game and total in the CFL's 18 game schedule and if we have a play we'll posted it right here. For the most part the CFL is a Quarterback driven league. Pounding the ball via a running game doesn't work in the 3 down format. Let's begin. 402 Saskatchewan +3 Many cappers and the public will be on the Als this week, because of their record last year and on paper they look like the best team. Well, the game isn't played on paper and there is a huge emotional handicapping factor for the opening game. This is THE revenge game of the year already! Montreal narrowly defeated Saskatchewan 28-27 in last year's Grey Cup and did so because of a very controversial flag. The Green Riders were flagged for too many men, putting the Als in better field goal position and lost at the wire. Darian Durant the Riders QB is looking to improve in his 2nd year behind center, will call more plays, will be more consistent and is a threat to run on any given play. The same cannot be said for the aging Als vet QB Anthony Calvillo who turns 38 in Aug, and if he goes down, Montreal's back-up Adrain McPhearson is not available serving a 9 game suspension, would have to rely on little Chris Leak. The same cannot be said for the Green Riders, who have Ryan Dinwiddie and newly signed Todd Reesing. ( Yes, that Todd Reesing form Kansas) Saskatchewan is deep at RB, OL, stole All-Star vet OL Dan Goodspeed from Hamilton. They tied Calgary for total points in the West and the defense has the best LB core. They matchup very well with Montreal in the trenches and in the secondary. Home field advantage is enormous in this game. On Canada Day, a National Holiday, at Mosaic Stadium, in Regina SK, this game is obviously sold out. The home fans are the best in the CFL and they lead the league in jerseys sold. I made the line on this game PK. Montréal opened -1 and is now -3. Key numbers are not as valuable in the CFL as they are in NCAAF or the NFL of course, (due to the one point Rouge) but 3 is still the No.#1 key number. Take the points.
i agree, with that 100%..as for the late game...looks like and UNDER as i dont think TOR can score.. and CAL may not be that interested..and perhaps RUSTY...i dont know if i have the balls to take the points with argos, as the line opened 13.5 and NOT 14..tells me the books are looking for calgary $ what do u think ALF?
I know you asked him, but while you wait for his answer, consider his comment below regarding the rouge. 14 doesn't mean enough for them to say they want action by lining it at 13.5.
A pretty exciting game to watch, and a winner to boot.

Just finished watching the Green Riders....and that ladies and gentlemen was as good a football game that you will find! The sportsbooks don't need Calgary or any side, the handle/action is so small for the CFL that even if they get middled it is a drop in the bucket. I recall the Hilton here say that any game of the first week of the NFL eclipses the entire handle of the CFL including the Grey Cup.
