CFL Thursday? After last week's debacle where BC in the mother of all spots, at home, a place that they used to dominate teams from the East, let Hamilton walk away with a win, because they could not move the football on offense and HC Wally Buono keeps making bone-head Buono mistakes, was tough to watch.
I made Winnipeg for this week-6 vs. BC and there is no way you can have the line at -3 where it is now, that is saying these two teams are equal in power ratings or on a neutral field PK, and so when WPG opened -4 and down to -3 on Wed, we had a potential GOY play.
Unfortunately, if you follow the CFL, you now know of the heart attack and passing of WPG's much beloved DEF cord' Richard Harris. WPG's defense leads the CFL in many categories and "Swaggerville" was becoming contagious not only with the defense but with the fans and media as well.
Now, the quotes coming out of WPG are that practice feels like a "wake" instead of a football team getting ready to play on Thursday.
We've seen this happen so many times in football, NCAA more often, a team goes through a difficult situation, a coach goes into the hospital, a player goes down, suspensions and scuttlebutt move the line. I usually go against the team suffering the emotions and mental fatigue, but they back come somehow to bite me in the ass and the team rallies around the fallen and wins with heart.
For now I'm going to pass on this game, if the line comes crashing down to -1 and we read/hear/know that WPG is ready, we'll make a play, but I doubt it will get that low, seems we are on the hard side of this kind of contest more often than we'd like.
