The Chargers/Chiefs MNF game leaves scars--the frustration and pain of the week

The Chargers/Chiefs MNF game leaves scars--the frustration and pain of the week In the set up for thiis whole week I think last Monday's result had an immediate impact on betting at least for me this weekend but it leaves a scar. (1) It set up a play on the Dolphins right away. A short week for KC after an emotionally uplifting win playing a winless team who had hung tough vs. the Giants. This does work out. (2) It immediately set up the Chargers I felt in a good situation to face Green Bay. Now I didn't watch today this game or read the review but I felt a good situation. Fortunately very early in the week there was a rogue 6.5 out there that I could buy to 7. It may have appeared later in the week but certainly was never weighted average. I would have bet +6 if I had to. I completely agreed with Fez on this play. Obviously, it didn't work out for followers. It is unfortunate. I survive it. (3) For myself and I have to imagine some others out here the frusration of last Monday's nights game. For people doing this as a job, this was much more than a 1 unit play on the Chiefs +4 that the board had. It was a very strong middle opportunity where +4 and +3.5 was played on the Chiefs and a ML bet on San Diego was made or -3. As Fez indicates in his quick post in his thread, there are a dearth of games "falling in the middle" and I really felt we had one not quite in the bag but pretty close. Then for the Chiefs to win in OT was disappointing. A large size "middle" or "side" can save a week or make a week. Does anyone have any empathy for people to lose this middle likely because of a fumbled snap? And of course who hasn't watched NFL didn't know that if that game could be lost it would be by Norv. (4) The Broncos, Giants, Bengals were good dogs. But honestly---too good. I wrote myself l like the Giants +9 but got tangled up in a few teasers with the Pats -2.5 to give that back. I played way back too much of the Titans my own decision but again was hoping for that 3 pt win by them. It didn't happen but yet seemed within reach. I didn't have any of the Raiders teasers. That is unfortunate for Fez. That is the basic strategy teaser and looked like it had a shot into the second half to cash the teasers and the Broncos. I get a little out of these but not much. I wish I didn't middle anything here and probably just have all 3 as winners instead of just the Broncos. (5) I think the Colts were a good bet and it is hard to answer why do sharps make these bets I saw Ice ask that in the Fez thread and it is a reasonable question. My own basic attempt would be the Falcons aren't that good on the road, may not be that good at all overall, the Colts wiill rise up a finally win a game, etc.. Guys who keep power ratings seem to have the game around 6.5 Hard to fault him here. (6) I nosedived with Washington. You know....ended up with +6 after laying 4 increased juice just to get out of +4. And yes, I just waste juice to chase the market like that and re-establish Washington. As an aside if I was actually quicker and smarter at thiis I would have played the 49ers somewhere on a parlay card at -3.5 in 3 teamers but alot goes on in the morning but I lose. I wlll look to either take advantage of way off numbers on those cards with small parlays of 3 teams or bail myself out of bad betting if I can. I should have done that here. (7) I didn't have this one but I feel for the pros out there on Arizona/St. Louis. As Fez wrote he has +4 on the Rams, anything at +3 or better is looking great for at least a winning bet and perhaps even a large middle with a counter bet on Arizona after the move. It really is painful to see these things not occur when you're doing this for a living. I'm upset at myself that I don't have the bet and it would be crushing for that to middle and I don't have a part of it but at the same time it just has to motivate someone to be better at this when they miss one. (8) The NO game I feel the bettors pain if they loaded up on NO teasers with +8.5. I saw the score tick late to an 11 pt win from 8. These are tough to take. (9) A sliver of good news for middles? I'm pleased to announce that I had a very tiny bet on the Bengals game over and a small bet on the game under. It ended at 41 right in the middle. It is possible something might work out. It is a paiinful business.
thanks for write up Skeeter - it can be a very tough game alright...
