Tribe, no, never coached but wish I had gone into it with BB. Hard choice as you make nothing unless you hit a HC opp at big school.
But I totally agree with Fez that gamblers understand the game better than most and even some coaches (at least situational). And we all know the LVSC poll should be used in the BCS versus any other one. When gamblers watch games they think ahead big time because they know how their winning bet could still lose or their losing bet could come back (with or without coaching blunders). LOL. When I was watching the Jet game I was begging for them not to hold or fumble on the 3rd down play because I knew that is how they could screw up the FG attempt and me eventually lose the bet - which of course happened.
Coaches think ahead big time, too, as they are trying to win the game. The game to them is much more important than your bet is to you. Do they make mistakes? Sure, but they are allowed a margin of error just like anybody else and they make a billion decisions a game. All the more reason to have a "strategy" coach like that article about the dude from the Patriots.
Coaching is a lot harder than most think - players often don't do what they are told. Example from last night - just look at Brandon Marshall. He's obviously a jackass, but no amount of coaching is going to change that, and he clearly needs to still be on the field since he is a game changer. You can't "coach out" his immaturity. In your example, I'd blame the moron offensive lineman that held more than the coach who I'd wager has taught him over and over again that the worst thing that you can do in that situation is hold.
