Just reading that now - Will the M resort change tactics now after getting a roasting . .and getting rid of the main guy at the sportsbook..
i'll need to go back and look but i think playing ON okla and texas after tx/ou game is a good bet " 3.) Let's look to bet against both Oklahoma and Texas in their subsequent games following Saturday's showdown. I love letdown situations. It will be impossible for the Sooners and Longhorns to be as excited next week as they are this week. The schedule calls for Oklahoma to visit Kansas while Texas is on the road against Missouri. I plan on playing both home underdogs."
listened to talkzone podcast with stravinsky - got the feeling he's strugging with the marketplace...out of touch as well.. doesnt believe in betting early part of week and does not pay much attention to what the big syndicates are playing...... i'd imagine he's not a big bettor these days........

Ted is smart and well prepared. I talk to him every week because I learn something valuable I didn't know every time I talk to him.
Ya, Teddy knows that there are more opportunities early in the week. The tout business is just set up that the picks are sold late in the week because that's when Joe Bettor most wants to buy them.
came across as bush league - no way is this guy a big bettor

He does bet. He just doesn't come out and say on the radio that "my bets I place on Monday are 5 times as good as this stuff I release on Fridays to clients"
I wondered how long the "independent book" mentality would last
Just reading that now - Will the M resort change tactics now after getting a roasting . .and getting rid of the main guy at the sportsbook..
It was a fun run, albeit way too short. The M appeared willing to take on all wagers, posting early CFB totals, taking high limits on all bets and having a truly independent line (for LV anyhow). Too bad that an "old school" approach from a book simply cannot last anymore. Evidence of the difficult environment for AP's today vs. just a decade ago. On a side note, I get the feeling that the M is losing $$ and losing $$ big. An awful time to open in a tough location... even with the Marnell's deep pockets, the changes in the place from opening to today are remarkable. They have taken a VERY defensive position at this point vs their opening as the most liberal place in town for players. Comps, table rules, VP pay tables, limits, etc are all extremely tighter than they were in the summer. A shame -- this was my favorite place for about 3 months.
