Fezzik HILTON
These stale lines are pure shit!!! Like Shooter "releasing" RAS totals AFTER they have moved 2 points or more. WTF!!! It's easy to run a good contest: bet at the current line; you know, like when you call your book!!! NO is now -7 1/2, Washington is -7 1/2 (I released Washington at -6 1/2, others were silent), Miami is -1 (we bet at +1 -102).
The EXACT reason I didn't even get involved with the Hilton this year or will in the near future until necessary changes are made. Anyone with a pulse will play certain games based solely on the line. This is suppose to be mor a handicapping contest not a line shopping one. This is not a slam on fezzik as he is just posting what he likes and you do have to make some decisions which he is more then capable of doing, etc... It's more of a slam on the Hilton. They need to get with the times. I wan to play in a HANDICAPPING contest not a line shopping contest. The Beat the Prick contest at SBR does things right and has no problems with it. They use up to the second lines and when you make your contest plays for the week you get what the current number is. So for example you may have chose Detroit +9.5 on Friday and I could have chose them today at +10 and so on and so forth depending on when you enter the contest for the week. There is absolutely no reason the Hilton couldn't do their contest like this. It's 2009 not 1996 anymore, the Hilton needs to get with the times, IMO.

The Hilton is just a line shopping event. Covers also does it right. It's 2009!!! We have computers. Hell, even an old man like me knows how to use them! TSM should also correct their "monitoring" system. They inflate the record of the sports services by about 1.5%.
I'm not saying that there is, per se, but I can't fathom why there would be any dissatisfaction over the posting of contest picks. They are the best picks for the given parameters of the game and his current standing in it. Of course many of the numbers he bets won't be available now, because that's the nature of playing this one correctly. But many have asked for them to be posted, so they are. At the least, it demonstrates the proper way to play a contest of this type.
Dont see anyone can back the skins or raiders with those QB's...Those two picks by really baffled me... They are unbetable teams, imo

Playing these teams with favorable numbers provides a double bang when they come in, because many players have the same opinion (about the bad QBs) and will take the other side. One of the strongest maneuvers in any tournament is to "opposition bet," meaning to get your money on the other side of where most of your opponents are. Not only do these plays accomplish this, but with the better numbers, they're theoretically the right side.
Not working out too well today with that theory....Besides, all the money came in on Wash.
oak +9 WASH-7 NO -6.5 MIA 2 DEN 3
Got to say, you're pretty strong Fezz!
Fezz, When it comes to your stuff/plays, percentage wise (roughly), how much of it would you say is your power ratings, compared to technical analysis (situations, trends, etc.)?

If Fezz, for example, was to bet numbers that were a half point better anything anyone else ever saw, and the Hilton said "those numbers were available to all comers on Tuesday between 2:12am and 2:14am," everyone would have a problem with it. Even if they WERE briefly available, only a degen hanging out in the sportsbook might be there to grab them. And who the hell wants to hang out at the Hilton all week? Not that it's a bad place when it isn't getting robbed.
HOWEVER, most of your plays in the Hilton are at lines as stale as Shooters'! Given the rules, and the stale lines, you are clearly doing the correct thing, BUT that is as valuable as me posting my bets against my rogue books! It's simple: if you like a bet at current numbers, post it!
It is far from just a lineshopping contest. In fact, the line shopping aspect is trivial because it's contestant neutral. It's maybe, in the long run, going to add 1-2% or so to the returns. Every % is nice, but it hardly warps the accomplishment.
