Speaking of Haley, he is the new OC at Pittsburgh. I don't think LY went very well for Haley in the pre season and to some extent it seemed to go so badly I really felt some respect was lost for him at least by me. That was a very strange pre season where his ideas of what to do in the lockout just seemed all wrong. I don't know recall enough whether Haley is always this odd in pre season or whether it was just because of the lockout.
But everyone gets a fresh start. I don't know if he has a history with Tomlin or not. And I wonder if his ideas have changed about how to handle a pre season after last year or not either. I like the simple Tomlin theory they win according to Fez and Haley can buy into that. Or perhaps Tomlin has enough respect for Haley that if he says you sit guys, etc. I would think Pitt will have to pick up some of KC's ways of doing things. The bottom line is they hired Haley and he has more than enough credibility with Arizona and I guess even with KC that he probably will be allowed to bring in his pre season beliefs to the offense at least I would think---whatever they are.
From the Philly perspective I would think LY was so bad they'd want to start things off with a win. Hey, I don't think anyone likes to lose. But definitely Reid strikes me as someone who isn't too concerned about results in meaningless games.
I'm actually surprised he just didn't tease Pittsburgh here and then play back on Philly the best he could. For the most part a PK to +2.5 middle in NFL I would think is non profitable so you'll need at least Philly +1 to make it worthwhile coming back on them and that is marginal as a middle although doable maybe leave a little on Pittsburgh in that case. If you can pick up Philly +2 game day this is pretty good. Seems a mile away but that is why Fez has a site. Maybe it gets that far---somehow.
I haven't even read about Pitt this year but I heard they have some key injuries like Mendenhall and Hampton is it? They're probably old on D still? I'm not up to date on them yet. But their O I know has those fast receivers, they have Ben and add Haley the identity of the team is not Pitt typical. They've been moving to more passing O over the years----they're trying to super charge this now. I have no idea how much of this info is in the market but I think the idea is that Ben throw for 4500 this year or more and get him to the Brady level. Maybe there is an angle on this for props or Pitt over early in the year, etc.
