Fezzik pick, NC U/8.5 wins
Someone help me on this... What is better mathematically? NC UNDER 8.5 -175 or NC UNDER 8 -110 Thanks burg
Can someone give me a web resource or a book that will help me figure out mathematically what constitutes better odds for a given side? Is there a formula for this stuff? Sorry if I sound stupid, but I can't just look at the board like some of you pros and just pick what looks out of whack strictly from an odds point of view. Thanks Burger for asking this question.
found UNC un 8.5 -160 at M resort this afternoon
It may have been misleading earlier when I suggested there are lots of sources for this. I wasn't considering that we were talking specifically season wins. A top pro I know says that the NFL is a fairly predictable 45-50 cents per half game (not college). So U/8.5 -175 is roughly equivalent to U/8 -125. Those who may know better, feel free to jump in.
Fezz, you seem to be fading the entire ACC. So who in the ACC IS going to win? They play pretty well out of conference.

No one is going to win. All teams going 2-6 in conference. Seriously, I don't like any of the teams at the posted season win numbers.
I posted on the value of 1/2 game in this thread. No one corrected it, so I assume agreement.
Thanks Anthony. And thanks again for taking time to stop by the Monte Carlo!
Are you kidding? That was fun.
Fun. Informative. Eye opening etc, etc!!!
The State Of The ACC While North Carolina may be a good under play, playing the under on more than two or three ACC teams could prove suicidal. I follow recruiting. I go to 16-20 spring practices and fall scrimmages. If you don't believe me go to my website at www.paramountsports.com and watch some of the videos. I played college football and am a very good evaluator of talent. The ACC the last two years has improved more than any conference in the BCS in terms of recruiting and coaching. This year and next year you will see the difference on the field. Butch Davis of North Carolina although a below average game day coach is a monster recruiter. Davis has put together three straight top 20 recruiting classes. Randy Shannon of Miami is a terrible game day coach but one of the top ten head coaches as a far a being a recruiter. He had the #1 recruiting class in the country two years ago.Miami goes 4 deep at WB, has 8 quality WR's and for the first time in 7 years has a quality DL. Clemson is much better off without Bowden as their head coach. A high school coach could have done as well as he did. They have been a classic underachiever. FSU always gets good ahtletes and football players. Adding Jimbo Fisher as the OC 2 1/2 years ago is a huge upgrade. They might have one if not the best offensive lines in the country. N.C. State with O"Brien as their HC is five times better off than with Amato. Wake Forest is solid and has a great coaching staff. They were 8-5 ATS in the regular season 2 of the last 3 years.Va Tech gets the most of their talent in the country. Always a great defense and incredible special teams play. They have won at least 10 games for 5 straight years. Ga Tech now finally has a great coach in Paul Johnson who teams are having nightmares preparing for their option based spread. Duke is better off with Cutcliffe as their HC and Maryland and Virginia are always competitive and seem to go to a bowl two out of every three years. Fezzik has many strengths but in this case he might just be off the mark. The ACC is a conference you want to back going forward not fading. Lee Sterling
