Fezzik, this is up your alley: Scorecasting https://www.amazon.com/Scorecasting-Hidden-Influences-Behind-Sports/dp/0307591794/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1295755686&sr=1-1 Short summary of it from one of my favorite blogs: https://freakonomics.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/01/25/scorecasting-a-guest-post/#more-50559 Like Moneyball and The Book, I'm sure that it dispels a lot of conventional wisdom that sports fans buy into, such as the myth of hitters getting "hot" or "cold". My reading pile is about 10 feet high right now, but hope to get to it this summer. Seems that it covers a lot of the obvious things (NFL coaches don't go for it on 4th down nearly enough), but also charts new territory (umpire bias, why the Cubs suck, etc). If anyone reads it, would be great to hear your thoughts.
