Friday Baseball Houston at Milwaukee
A couple of aces are on the hill tonight in Milwaukee and we expect another low scoring game. But in our opinion the wrong team is favored as the Brewers are looking towards the future while Houston still maintains hope for a wild card spot. The Brewers sent JJ Hardy to the minors this week while releasing Bill Hall. They in turn replaced them with unproven minor league talent. That along with not making any moves at the trading deadline showed lack of confidence to the players on the field.
Yovani Gallardo is having a fine season but he's struggled a bit in his last seven starts. During that time he has allowed 26 earned runs in 42.2 innings of work. In only two of those seven starts did he have a 2-1 or better strikeout to walk ratio.
Wandy Rodriquez on the other hand continues to throw gems. He has produced seven straight starts allowing one or less earned runs. That's 4 earned runs in 47 innings of work. His strikeout to walk ratio during that time is 41-9. He's faced the Brewers twice this year yielding a single run while holding them to a .208 batting average. Last year in two games he held Milwaukee to a .167 batting average.
As we mentioned earlier the wrong team is favored here and we once again back Wandy as an under the radar gem.
