GB @ ARZ was a great game!!! Like I posted in other threads, this game was the hardest of the four WC games to handicap.
Everyone knew that GB could score easily, but not too many people could predict a passing fest of this magnitude.
I think ARZ got a little lucky here, as there were missed flags on their last scoring drive. If you watch the replay closely( I have NFL Replay) you can see the O lineman "hooking" the GB DE that should have been a 10-yard penalty. The Ref was looking right at that play but no call.
Another play there could have been a "helmet-to-helmet" call when ARZ D player hit QB Rodgers and the TV commentators called it right.
In OT QB Rodgers had the receiver wide open for at least a 40-yard play, if not a TD to end the game. That was Rodgers 2nd worst pass of the game.
What was Coach Wisenhunt thinking during parts of this game? This is not the first time GB has been involved in the on-sides kick ploy. Coach W needs to have a serious talk w/ his Special teams man. The Saints w/ Coach Peyton has a rep for trying stuff like this. See the Fake FG attempt w/ back up QB Brunell trying to lose the game vs. ATL.
On a later GB possession, they try to blitz Rodgers, and they score easily. Then later ARZ tries a "zone" D, and GB scores anyway, easily. Never heard of man-to-man tight coverage, and keep rushing 4 at all times. But I am not in the game, just another spectator. But it did seem odd the D packages that were called against the GB O.
The winning TD play, it looked like ARZ DB Adams( the worst player on ARZ D) hit QB Rodgers in the face or possibly grabbing the facemask, which still should have resulted in a 15-yard penalty. The DB Adams penalties occured AFTER the turnover. It looked like that ARZ gets possession of the ball @ 27-yard line. 1st and 10 right there. The TD should have been called back.
I know I needed this game for my 4-0 sweep of the WildCard weekend, but I feel I got lucky with this win. The NYJ game I got a little worried when WR Braylon Edwards dropped the TD pass, blowing a scoring opportunity when they were down 7-0, but they scored soon afterwards that put the team back on track.
ARZ will need to play better at the Big Easy next week.
Great games, and this game was an exciting game to watch.
