Houston/Tulsa

Houston/Tulsa I like Tulsa a lot. We have an unranked fave v a ranked dog. Public consensus is strongly on Houston. Handicappers, both human and computer like Houston. Despite all this, the line movement shows money on Tulsa. Fezzik, you posted a pick on Houston but without analysis. Would you care to elaborate? The Dude has also told us why he likes Houston. Basically, they're a much better football team. This game is what some call a "trap." I call it contrarian betting.
My computer makes the line pick.
usually "unranked fav over ranked team" is better to follow when the UF was a favorite to begin with....not when the line moves that way this line opened UH as a 2 pt favorite

Fade the steam, or follow the steam? I much prefer to follow the steam, although I am aware that it is a heretical view in the land of Fezzik. I expect even the orthodoxy might make an exception when the steam is on such an unpopular pick.

The secondary for Tulsa isn't very good and Hou could throw for over 500 again this week on them. I would throw in the QB for Tulsa as the other weak spot for that team as well.
If you have watched Tulsa play, you would see how bad they are. Their yards per carry, yppl, ypp, #s might at first look better than UH but they have played a weaker schedule IMO, and have 3 wins vs nobody. Houston is the real deal. Line should be 4-6. Good Luck
My take FWIW: 383/384 Houston at Tulsa
Tulsa has fallen on hard times dropping three straight games including an embarrassing 27-13 home loss to SMU last week. In that game Mustangs freshman quarterback Kyle Padron threw for 354 yards without an interception in his first career start. Now they must face Case Keenum who leads the country in passing. Offensively the Golden Hurricane used four different quarterbacks on a single drive in the first half and right now there is a quarterback controversy. The offense that averaged 47.2 points per game a season ago has scored 27 points or less in four straight games. This is a team that came out flat last week and could be in for a tumble after dropping their second straight conference game. Keep in mind this program won 11 and 10 games the past two seasons and enters play this week with four losses already with Houston, East Carolina and Southern Miss still on the schedule.
Houston came back from the dead last week to not only win but cover against Southern Miss. The Cougars averaged 8.6 yards per play in putting up 50 points. Houston has scored 29 points or more against every opponent this season. The Cougars have cashed 6 of 7 games this year and continue to be overlooked by the betting public. Houston already has quality road wins at Oklahoma State and Mississippi State. Their only loss was a 17 point defeat at UTEP in an ultimate sandwich situation. They were off a victory over Texas Tech and had a road trip to SEC country on deck at Mississippi State. They had beaten the Miners the past three times they played and obviously took UTEP for granted. Now with a chance to break into the top 10 with a victory we don't expect that to happen again. Keep in mind that this team lost 56-7 the last time they played in this building.
Many will look at the 70-30 victory by Houston last year as revenge for the Golden Hurricane. But the better team has more to play for in this one, as a loss in this game could really kill the Cougar's season. Houston brings all the confidence and the swagger into this one, and they have a big edge in talent. A win gets the cover and we expect it to be an easy one at that.
