How refreshing is this,,,,,

How refreshing is this,,,,, And it is a first for me in 8+ years of living here. There are services and their are marketing companys. Since I don't want to start any doo-doo today, I'll leave it at that. I know of some who put out plays on (to me, anyway)horse poop types of action. Now, I don't know if Dave Cokin is on here or not, but I happen to respect him, and I have met and talked "shop" with him a few times. How about a "TOUT" saying this. I know there are "Marketing Touts" who are on here who would NEVER in a million years admit this, they just keep "marketing" their plays. Quote from Dave (SMOKIN) Cokin - "On the NFL side, I continue to be a coin flip at best and the free play on the Raiders was hysterically awful. This may sound like a stupid thing to say considering I’m in the business of selling picks. But I would definitely NOT recommend anyone buying my NFL stuff. It’s just not worth even a minimal investment. On the flip side, you’ll have a tough time finding anyone who can break down the colleges as well as I can. Safe to say that after roughly 30 years of doing this professionally, plus a good decade or so prior to that just playing on my own, I know my strengths and weaknesses" I almost fell out of my chair! Thoughts or comments?
He is one of my favorites, but I would only buy his baseball picks. Whenever I've heard him break stuff down on the radio, the baseball evaluating makes sense to me.
It's all part of the sales pitch. He's trying to sell his NCAA picks to you. If he appears to talk "honestly" like this he figures he might have a better shot. Looks like his strategy worked.
Kind of luck a guy admitting he is cheating unfortunately CMON DAVE (and others). Working for Jim Feist? Are all the tobacco company senior managment positions filled? It's admirable he is open and honest. But even better would be to say GOOD BYE to Mr. Feist and The Boiler Room.

The Gold Sheet used to publish in various vanues an article that said "Hey, don't really believe all those guys saying they go 70%, it's unattainable. You really can't do much better than 60% over the long run." I can't imagine anyone at the Gold Sheet thought that 60% was attainable, yet the reader would think to themselves "well, maybe I'll just muddle along with the Gold Sheet at 60%, time to send in my check". I wonder how many people mistakenly have it engrained in their head that 60% is attainable as a result of the Gold Sheet attaching their authority to the idea?
KO AND FEZZIK. when it comes to the touts'claims, you guys DO SEE the PICTURE.

Unfortunately it works. I remember back in the 80's and in college looking to make some money betting on games and called Mike Warrens office. They said he hit in the low 60's for his lowest rated plays, mid 60's for the next tier and high 60's for his highest rated games (also most expensive games). I signed up for one of the packages and of course the rest is history. Actually, not only was he not winning but the local bookie got busted and we couldn't bet any more. That was probably a good thing because he wasn't winning anyway. Oh, and the local bookie charged -120. The good old days!

Betting money we didn't have and thinking this guy was going to pay next semester tuition for us! too funny
I remember calling Warren during my college days in the mid to late 80"s. He was one of the few people on TV at the time. I believe he had a show on the USA network called Beat the Pros. When I called to get my plays, the joker in the boiler room who answered the phone said, "for $200 more, you can talk to Mike personally." Good times.
MIKE WARREN! A BLAST FROM THE PAST! may have been one of the original tout CONMEN. made a killing touting his horse---- real name was mike laskey
