It is official....

Up 28-3 with the ball and pounding their ass in the ground in the 4th quarter and calling a halfback pass isn't a bad call? Parcells, Jimmy Johnson, Cowher, Lombardi, Walsh, etc etc etc.....would fire the Offensive Coordinator before the game was over.

You play right into my point. The game is over. They are showing other things to give next weeks opponents something to think about. Perfect time for that. It's not the call that's bad. It's the execution. The player simply can't throw the ball in that situation. I highly doubt if he completes the pass or runs out of bounds, you're on here complaining about the call. My sense is your upset because it led to an interception, which triggered the over in the game. Unless you're an offensive coordinator from your past, I will take what Leroy Butler says over what you think you know regarding offensive play calling. He certainly has a much better pulse on what coordinators do, having played the game at a high level for so many years, than what you think is happening. BTW, I've seen Cohwer pull that stuff many, many times over the course of his coaching career. The only defense you have in this is too many times when they run these plays, the running backs never throw the ball away or pull it down and run it. They seem to always mishandle the situation.
Anyone who handicaps that Mike Martz will try to run out the clock with a lead is simply keeping the books in business for the rest of us. And I thank them. It's like those who bet on Marty Schottenheimer in a playoff game, then acting shocked and appalled when he got too conservative with a lead. Or bet against Steve Spurrier at Florida, then were befuddled that he ran up the score. The list goes on. Inside info: Mike Martz never has and never will get conservative with a lead. Ever. And if Parcells, Johnson, etc would fire a coach for not pounding the ball into a ground with a three TD lead in the fourth quarter, I can guarantee this. If any of them hired Mike Martz as OC, the absolute first game Martz had a three TD lead in the fourth quarter, he absolutely will be fired before the game is over. He won't pound the ball into the ground. Anyone who watches Martz is well aware of this. My guess is Lombardi and Walsh would be well aware of that before they considered hiring him.
