Jaws comments on the Wildcat

Jaws comments on the Wildcat His comment was... "MIA ran the Wildcat 8.4% of the time and it gained them only 10.5% of their offensive yards in 2008. If you are a playing vs. them is it really such a worrisome problem?" He went on to essentially say it is overrated. While Jaws is usually decent at the schematics of the NFL game, he is missing something here. 1) A 2.1% difference in yds is fairly significant 2) More importantly, how many of the "non-Wildcat" yards were gained simply because of the existence of the Wildcat. This would skew the numbers a bit. Anyhow, I think there is obviously a place for the Wildcat, albeit it is overrated, but I think Jaws may be a bit off in his reasoning this time.
I agree with both pts and point number 2 a lot. How many hours per week does the opposition have to gameplan against the Wildcat as opposed to not having to gameplan for the freak formation.
I guess the reverse arguement would be: how much time does Miami spend practicing the "Wildcat", and how much does this time detract from the effectiveness of their regular offense which comprises 90% plus of their total offensive plays?
Point number 1 is the biggie. The 2008 Dolphins had 5529 yards of offense on 965 plays. Using the above numbers--8.4% and 10.5%, I see that the wildcat averaged 7.2 yards/play while other plays averaged 5.6 yards/play. The apparently small 2.1% difference in yards is huge because it is accomplished on a small number of plays. OMG I have stooped to critiquing anouncers' mathematical understanding. I'll shut up now.
