I always kind of lean toward using news, not to make picks on any given game that often, but to put a game's results in context.
In this instance, I can see the Lakers falling flat here. But they also seem really aware of that possibility, so maybe will gear up and get over the hump.
So the usefulness of the news is in putting the result in context.
If the Lakers outperform, we can assume they geared up, and therefore may very well be flat next game. NBA regular season play doesn't lend itself to gearing up. On the rare occasions when it happens, bet on, then fade.
If the Lakers underperform, we'll know better than to make too much of it.
