Landing on the QB is now a 15 yd foul? even worse, these types of calls are seeping into the college game.
this is a sad display of football. its like a hockey game
steelers flagged for landing on the QB. which is apparently, you didn't hit him late, high, low, or helmet to helmet. But you did hit him pretty hard and then landed on him. new penalty there
im with you bro. its sad on all sides. its truly becoming glorified pro wrestling

can you imagine dick butkus in this modern venue? guy used to spear players head first in the neck about 10 yards out of bounds and 5 seconds after the play.
Fla St game last night, Maryland receiver is juggling the ball, about to catch it, cornerback Greg Reid lays into him, shoulder to chest, guy goes flying backwards, ball pops up, another defender catches it and returns it for a TD and 17-3 FSU lead. ref calls 15 yards for hitting a defenseless receiver high ( he hit him shoulder to chest). Maryland keeps ball scores later on drive to make it 10-10. I remember when "defenseless receiver" started and nothing wrong with it then, it was used to stop unneccesary laying out a guy who already missed the catch and couldnt even see the hit coming. Now it can be used when a defender breaks up a pass. it seems now, some of these refs are looking to think up a penalty if someone gets hit hard
It is awful and ruining the game. We need some kind of boycott of NFL stadiums or NFL tv until they fix this. There are far more injuries now because there are far more passes over the middle now. In the old days you almost never saw a guy go over the middle. Now they all do cause they know you either make the catch or get 15 yards. There will be far more injuries with these penalties than without them. Might as well throw over the middle on every play.
