Lucky's Update and a Request To All bettors Re: Lucky's
i'm just curious but why is fez editing pachuca's post?
It's no big deal. Not for lanquage or bigotry or anything. I just mentioned that sometimes crews of runners hit different outs at the same time, and thus sometimes, when you're trying to bet and get the stall/line-change shit, it's for a reason. Sometimes it isn't. Sometimes books fall asleep at the wheel and leave a weak number up, and when a player wants to bet the max, it's a wakeup call to check the number. So, they check it, see that they're weak, and change it before taking your action. Of course, if they'd checked it, seen that they were off-market, but you were betting the wrong side, they wouldn't change it. So sometimes it seems books hang weak numbers trolling for squares.
I edited it since he said "Runners from my crew" As you know, I have no runners. Further to the point, I have no crew..... Lean and mean I move forward. And when I do work with guys, I work with betting partners who have a share of the action, not 'runners'.
of course. however, contrary to popular opinon it IS NOT illegal to have people make bets for you and compensate them seperate from the action. there is absolutely nothing in ngc regulations stating this is illegal in any shape or form. as a caveat, i'm not a lawyer and any and all decisions are each individuals to make (not sure that's a grammatically correct sentence but it's the best i can do right now)
nevermind. ...

What is Lucky's doing well? Let me say that their staff at Terrible's is outstanding. From supervisors to ticket writers. Other than the cranky old man who insists on saying "it's runner time" every time I came up to the window to bet, they are all friendly, helpful, cheerful, and just generally good people. What can they do better? I'd like to see higher limits on some things but I can understand if they are not comfortable taking large bets. But stick to a standard and honor it! That being said, some of the limits are ridiculously small even for a small scale book. $500 NFL totals until the weekend and then $1000? $3000 max NCAA side on a Friday? I don't understand how you guys plan on making any money if you won't take a bet, and it's not to hard to win at this game taking +105 on everything.
Oh...one other thing. KEEP ENOUGH MONEY ON HAND TO PAY YOUR WINNING PLAYERS!!! This is inexcusable. I have personally had to wait until the NEXT day to get paid by you guys because there was no money to be paid. Not talking ridiculous sums either, 7k here, 9k there, etc. The only reason I didn't "go public" about it was for fear of not being paid the entire balance of your debt by creating a run on the bank. You guys are a long way from being an elite book but at least you care enough to listen to complaints.
And it is not just Lucky's that has started pulling this ridiculous move. I remember earlier this year on a Wednesday afternoon I walk up to Jerry's Nugget and try to make some straight forward bets. I get told "OH, Sorry, someone just hit the same bets, we aren't going to be able to take those". It's W at 1pm. NO ONE is in this casino. AND those that were there, most certainly aren't betting football for the weekend. C'mon. I do like the Jerry's head guy, but that doesn't change my reaction. I just walked out, shaking my head.
That could have been me!

I have to say the ticket writers and managers have always been good to me Nina always smiling at Terribles, managers always nice there, Pauly always wishing me well at the Plaza. But I just cannot fathom why every decent size bet takes so long to approve.....it's almost like the default memo in the back room is: 1. STALL! 2. BE 100% sure no one else bet it with a few minutes 3. THEN approve it. Is Lucky's such an attractive 'out' that syndicates are lining up to triple pop them as small limits???? Cmon. Just approve the bets with 15 seconds. THAT is what every good sports book does.
