Maurice Jones-Drew Gets The Genius Award

Maurice Jones-Drew Gets The Genius Award Somebody finally got some clock-management skills. Maurice Jones-Drew is running full-speed and is one yard from the end zone with 1:44 left on the clock. Take one more step and he's in the end zone, but up 22-21 he sits down on the one, Jax runs the clock down to 2 seconds and kicks the field goal to win the game as time expires. Somebody finally got it right.
He's done this before if I remember correctly! Smart football player for sure.
They were down 22-21, weren't they? So you're saying the chip shot field goal has a higher success rate than risking giving the other team the ball down 5 (or 7) with 90 seconds left? I can go along with that.

I don't think this was a good move by Drew. His team is down. You haven't won the game until you score. Too many can and do happen.

There was a scrum and the only reason they were running the ball was to get back at the guy who created the problem on the prveious kneel down. Has nothing to do with what we are talking about but I thought that was funny as can be.
agree, that is amusing.
The success rate of a field goal from the 1 should be roughly the same as the success rate of an extra point, and as I recall the XP success rate is around 98%. I'd have to think the chance of the other team scoring a TD, making the 2 point conversion, and then winning the game in OT is greater than 2%, which would make falling down on the 1 correct.
