This has the makings of a crazy time tonight.
Admission is free, either by using your ticket stub for yesterday's game, or by showing up at the Ford Field box office by 9am to get free tickets.
Well, people started showing up at 6am at Ford Field looking for their free tickets. They were wrapped around three quarters the way around Ford Field. Keep in mind, we had 8 inches of snow here, it was 12 degrees out, and windchills below zero. Once you got to the window, they were giving 4 tickets out to each person. People were then going from window to window getting as much as 16 tickets each. They ran out at 9:40am, running out of tickets then. Afterwards, there were reports of people scalping tickets to those who got shut out at the end of the line. If you go to Detroit Craigslist, there are endless postings of tickets available for sale, for something that was meant to be free.
The intention was for the Lions/NFL to give people the opportunity to witness and experience NFL football who might have otherwise never had a chance to go. A lot of those people got shut out.
There is open seating. It it going to be crazy to get to your seat, then if you get up to get something to eat, your seat may have someone else in it by the time you return.
It will be very interesting to see the scene when this all takes place.
