Miami Dolphins Situation Looks like more tension and distraction for the Dolphins this week.
The NFL has directed Miami to hold off on meeting with Jonathon
Martin until they get a chance to interview him. The reason is fairly
obvious - they fear some sort of tampering/coaching may take place
before they get to speak with the player. This suggests that the Dolphins
do have some others that are looking over their shoulder in this whole
deal. Fear of exposure is a definite distracting element. The latest word,
according to Adam Schefter, is that there is at least one other "member"
of the organization that has similar complaints as Martin, although not
as extreme. "There's a rat among us" is the discussion in the locker
room. Martin is scheduled to meet Friday with the NFL. Miami had worked
it so they would have met with Martin Wednesday, two days ahead of the
NFL, but that was squashed by the NFL office. NFL gets him first.
Local company Spirit Airlines is even goofing on the Dolphins
"Don't be bullied by high fares. Fly Incognito out of Florida or any place for that matter,"
read an advertisement by the South Florida-based business.
Miami is at home and +1.5 vs the SD Chargers. This is not a game I'm
looking to fade the Dolphins in however. San Diego is a team that is not
up to the task of traveling in this spot and getting a W. Their defense is
one of the NFLs worst IMO as I have them right near the bottom overall.
They are not perceived to be at the bottom of the heap defensively due to
the awful starts by teams like Wash, Jax, Atl etc but they're every bit as
bad. Football Outsiders actually ranks them dead last in overall defense
efficiency. San Diego ranks 20th in QB sacks per game and 32nd in overall
takeaways. They also rank 28th in pass yds allowed. Very vanilla stop unit.
I'm teasing the Dolphins right now in this spot as I expect the line to close PK
or Mia a small favorite. Pinnacle and CRIS dropped the number at 1.
