More coaching fun.. FSU O-line

More coaching fun.. FSU O-line The FSU O-line is coached to stay completely still when they draw the defense offsides and have a free play.. So the defensive line of course swarms the QB in about 2 seconds. I didn't think there was a more retarded idea than the QB taking a knee on the free offsides play... but this appears to be worse. Do they think the defense will just completely freeze? Seems like a better chance to get your QB smoked.
FSU has many bigger problems than that
Oh, I agree Jeff. I would point out that this kind of dumb stuff probably wouldn't show up on a team without bigger problems though.
Oh, I agree Jeff. I would point out that this kind of dumb stuff probably wouldn't show up on a team without bigger problems though.
Many teams are taught to do this. Michigan is one of them, I remember hearing Rich Rod speak about it. I swear I saw it in the UTEP game last night, but can't remember which team. The thinking is that it makes it very clear to the refs that the o-line didn't move so that they don't get an undeserved false start. I agree - it could get your QB absolutely destroyed.

I get the part about the ref's clarity...one-thousand one, one-thousand-two -- protect! It was cute the first time, now it's just plain stupid. I mean, what if they complete a screen and the runner is coming back across the grain. They could throw some good blocks, instead, they're hangin' out with their ass in the air. Again, a second or two at the most and then fire-off.
ya, it's funny how the retard announcers don't tell us why they do it. I thought it was to ensure the O-Line doesn't commit a holding penalty to offset the Offsides. Seems pretty stupid if the QB is going to try to make a play as he'll get creamed.
if I was a D-lineman, that would motivate me to do just that. Almost like the O-line is showing them up, in a way
