NFL Houston +1

NFL Houston +1 Is this not a good play? Houston has lost 2 to indy and a very close matchup to the hot titans in the past 3 weeks by close margins. They need a win badly. Jacksonville has beaten a bunch of scrub teams and lost big to san fran. Any opposition?
jacksonville pick was a sportsmemo best bet this week. i'd wait till sunday in case the line goes to 1' or 2. you never know how good jax is because their playcalling is, um, not optimal.
Houston needs a win badly.....rarely a good reason to bet on a team and often a good reason to bet against a team
Houston needs a win badly.....rarely a good reason to bet on a team and often a good reason to bet against a team
Correct. They have badly needed wins the last two weeks. What has that got them - 0-2.

0-2 vs. indy and ten..both games they could have closed out i think vs. lesser competition they come through in a big way...plus houston always plays jax well good advice from joel! thanks!
Correct. They have badly needed wins the last two weeks. What has that got them - 0-2.
Possible sample problems imo
Possible sample problems imo
Correct, but the point being this team has had problems closing out games. If they badly need a win, that usually means they haven't been able to get the wins when they needed them before. My point isn't to say Houston isn't the right side, etc. only they have struggled to win games when they needed to so there is no reason to expect them to win here just because they need to. If they are the better team, that's one thing, if it is because they need a win, that's not a good way to analyze this game, imo.
Possible sample problems imo
i thought he was just proving the point that teams who really really need to win often times dont. they play tight and nervous because the game means so much. usually we dont see this until the final weeks of the season when playoff bids are on the line. we arent there yet, but Houston could pretty much be out of it if they dont win on Sunday Also, I think Kubiak is feeling pressure to WIN or he's gone after this season and that could carry over to his team. Tough call in this game. Jax seems to be winning via smoke and mirrors and MJD. With Houston's run defense not being that strong it could be a good day for the Jax running game, and not a good day for Houston.
Don't even get me started on the Texans and what their record could possibly be at this time. The last time the Jags played Houston, their defense was still struggling. Houston has improved quite a bit since then and definitely plays the run better, Chris Jones performance on MNF the exception. Also, the jags best corner, Mathis, will be out this Sunday against the Texans. The Texans are a respectable 10-5 in December under Kubiak, but this will be the 1st time they still have something to play for this late in the season.
