Northwestern +17 (hopefully) Waiting out for this to hit 17.
I can't imagine a WORSE spot for Iowa in this one. They are coming off three emotionally charged wins.
-Went into Wisconsin off their big prime time victory over Michigan, with Wisco in a good spot, and handled the Badgers.
-Went into East Lansing, in a Saturday night atmosphere, against an MSU team in a quality spot, and pulled out a win on 4th down, in the game's final seconds.
-Capitalized off poor officiating and staged a MAMMOUTH comeback, not only winning but winning convincingly.
Now, Iowa's triumphs @ Wisc and @ MSU were my reasoning for betting the Hoosiers last week. What makes Iowa's spot more dangerous this week, though, is that not only have the overcome difficult spots, but they are coming into this game off a win where everything just came so damn easily to them. Their one-play drives and quick strike scores will have this team feeling like they're better than they are. I really believe this. This team's success has been predicated on playing fundamental football and staying within their limitations. In their minds, the Hawkeyes quieted all the critics with their easy, blow-out win of the Hoosiers.
ON TOP OF THIS....
This is the MOTHER of all look-ahead games. If this isn't a look-ahead, they don't exist. With a showdown at Ohio St. on deck, you can't possibly tell me they'll be respecting their opponents this week, who, as Indiana did on Saturday, allowed a 3rd quarter lead to slip through their hands and turn into a blowout.
This will undoubtedly be my biggest play of the season to date. If I lose, I'll severely be curtailing my sports betting activity. However, given how rough a go it's been in college (and the NFL) this year, this might not be the worst solution.
