Norv Turner, 2nd and inches, line plunge play call

Norv Turner, 2nd and inches, line plunge play call BACK TO BACK 2nd and 1 calls, he settles for the first down, gaining a few yards. Mind boggling bad play calling.........
It will drive you nuts watching some of these coaches work. Just unbelievable.
one they do that bugs me.... college coaches say down 38-21 mid 3rd quarter. they have something like 4th and 2 from the 15. They figure they need a field goal eventually and two TD's to tie and kick it. Which is great logic if you can keep the other team, which has already put up 38 on your defense in 2.5 quarters, scoreless the rest of the way. But of course that doesnt happen. If your down 17 mid 3rd or later, you need TD's if at all possible. I could see kicking in a semi-hopeless spot like 4th and 17 from the 20 down 17 points.
Lifelong SD Fan Me and my friend, who is a Dallas fan, constantly argue who is worst Norv or Wade. SD's window is long gone - their D is among worst in the league now - was that pass rush tonight a joke or what? Norv has to go but I think GM Smith does too - drafts have been lousy - 1R pick English looks like a bust and Merriman obviously not the same player with the knee. And sure glad they traded up to get Weddle. they're using guys who were out of football at NT and OL injuries have hurt a ton and LT obviously done. But back to Norv - they started their slide when he replaced Marty - probably still would have happened, but not to this extent. I wonder if Norv will lose the team completely now - this is not a team or fan base satified with getting to playoffs and I think they will realize they'll be lucky to go 8-8 again and that may really get this organization down in the dumps. Even if not, there is no way to fix that defense now.

Yes, Norv is no Vince Lombardi. Down by 11 with 1:45 to go and on the 26 yard line of Denver, why not kick the necessary field goal and then go for the onside kick. He's got no shot for a field goal from the 50 yard line with a few seconds left, but he's got a shot for a touchdown from way out, however slim, ask Brett Favre as he pulled it off 3 weeks ago. I would think the optimal play would be to kick the field goal from the 26 yard line, and then go for the onside. You have to be on the 35 yard line at the end of the game to kick a field goal, but you can be 55 yards away and still go for a hail mary in the end zone. Chances have to be better kicking the field goal first. As it turned out, he went backwards, and was left with a 54 yarder with 1:08 left as Rodgers got sacked, fumbled, etc....gimme the clipboard.
"gimme the clipboard" great title for a season long thread right there!
