Play-NBA Rookie of the Year -Brandon Jennings .30 units @ 40-1 on Brandon Jennings of Milwaukee for ROY (greek)
No he is not the favorite, and the ROY leaders are Blake and Curry right now, but 40-1 is just too much to pass up on this guy, and IMO is an overlay. If he looked like the favorite, he wouldn't be 40-1, so I won't fight anybody who argues against this play. There's always a ton of reasons to beat on a 40-1 shot. Some of the reasons I like this guy is he is going to probably be starting by Christmas, because he's going to prove to be better than Luke Ridnour, who is Milwaukee's starting point right now. Jennings has got a clear-cut path to a ton of playing time where he can rack up some really nice stats.
Last year in Milwaukee Ramon Sessions (44 points one game, 24 assists another, and a triple-dub against the Lakers) was clearly better than Ridnour last year, and plus Ridnour is now injury-prone, missing 40+ games over the last three years.
Other ROY candidates have more obstacles to be able to shine enough to put up big numbers. Larry Flynn is playing alongside Sessions in Minnesota, so that will cut into his playing time, even though Sessions may not make it past the trade deadline. Stephen Curry looks nice, but has to share time with Monta Ellis in GS, Tyreke Evans is playing out-of-position at point in Sacramento, and Kevin Martin occupies the #2 there. Blake Evans, oh well, let's hope Dunleavy and the Clippers do what they always do and fuck up one more good thing. I think we got a live longshot in Brandon Jennings.
Also, add .25 units on Jrue Holiday out of UCLA at 50-1 at Philadelphia.
