Resume help

Resume help Hey guys. I have a 3-year gap on my resume where I made my living as a "professional gambler." I'm applying for a job where it would be beneficial to have experience as a professional sports bettor/horseplayer. I just don't know how to put it into words on a resume. Has anyone here ever had to put this on a resume? If so, would you mind sharing how you described your job/responsibilities? Any help is greatly appreciated. Sam

I'd be more straightforward on a resume. It is what it is....

I placed advantage gambler under my interests on my resume. Those who found it interesting asked. Those who did not ignored it.
Employers can smell B.S. Unless you are applying for a job at a race track or sportsbook, I don't think employers would view this experience positively. Nobody wants to risk hiring a gambling degenerate. Your alternatives: 1) Be honest, and emphasize that you did legal wagering, with skills in statistics, computers, and business planning. 2) Shade it a little and call it poker. Employers might relate better to the skill aspect. You can explain you are seeking greater life challenges. 3) Lie. Say you worked for a dot-com that went bust. Just copy the basics off a competing resume. A stale resume is a problem with a career in advantage play. You might consider getting some fresh educational credentials or volunteer experience.
Kimlee is just dead wrong. Wall St is not anti gambling. If you are applying for any job not on Wall St, I'd omit it
pistol pete, that is tight my man. I'm straight stealin that. Kim Lee, you should consider a colon cleanse. Sam B, let us know any developments relating to the gambling aspect, or the job search in general. Very interesting.
A shorter version of Pistol Petes would be "Short-term investment manager" ;-)
Any stranger I have ever met who found out I was a pro gambler was immediately impressed and intrigued. I would hope you would have the same reaction from a potential employer.
