stupid coaching

stupid coaching dolphins down 14 mid 4th quarter 4th and 18 inches throw a fade....50 % chance to convert at best. if your offensive line cant get your running back 18 inches on 4th down more than 50% of the time, then you need a new line.
Agreed 1000%. I dont even like it on 1st down but if you have a big height advantage then maybe but just on 1st or 2nd.
Clock management at the end could have been better IMO. Turning it over on downs is one thing, running out of time really sucked. I was in a bar, so I couldn't hear the commentary to fully understand what was going on. It looked like they wasted their last timeout. The 10 second "run off" was a killer too. I was hoping we'd get a flag on that last big hit on the WR. With that, we would have had a great chance to put it in. Oh, well.
Coach has the mind of a mullet. Unreal this is the NFL.

agreed. And THE WORST part is, they basically called it in the booth before the play that is was a pass coming. I'll say it til I die, if you have goal to go near the goal line, and one play to do it, put your QB on the move! Get a couple levels of recievers cutting across, have your tight end take someone out and then find an open area, get your running back into the fold somehow - either for a flip, pitch, whatever- give the QB some options!!!!! and let him make a play/ take what the defense gives him. And on this particular play, I also like a QB dive into the pile more than a fade...its shameful really
Reggie Bush lined up as the goalline back was extra cute. A Pac-10 school didn't think that was a good idea. Fade is the dumbest fucking idea on 4th down ever. It's a throw that narrows down your chances of an interception. It's 4th down, who gives a shit.
How sad is it that Henne on more than one occassion (including 4th and inches) threw the ball 5 yards out of play not even allowing for a jump ball. Especially on the goal line. Whats more pathetic is that they brought in no one in the off season that they felt comfortable giving the ball to on the goal line. Obviously, they didnt think Bush could get in in. Maybe letting Ronnie B go and signing Bush wasnt the answer. Going to be a long season for us fins.

Equally stupid as throwing 5 yards out of bounds. I'd like to hear The Dude's opinion as to how strong of an indicator that really is to fade these guys. To me, that's a major red flag this team has nothing. How is that even near your best option right there. That has to be demoralizing to the whole team just to see that play get called.
Yet more dumb goal line calls in this game also. Denver O-Line getting USED all game. So what do you do on 1st and Goal from the 6?? Try and run it straight up the A gap. In this case I might actually have rather tried the fade.
Dallas on Sunday night did the same thing when they could have put the game away from the 3 yd line. At least they ran on first down (gain of 2) but then Romo from the 1yd line threw a fade on 2nd down(almost an INT returned for a TD) and threw on 3rd down (Romo fumble). By running three times you kill clock and at least you can get 3 pts to make it a 10 pt lead. 3 national televised games in a row with awful red zone play calling.
