Teddy Covers has hit the wall,,

Part of why people love to bash touts is the way they sugarcoat the results. Phil Steele went 2-10 on his NFL write-ups last week and this week the headline reads "Page 6 selections go 3-0!!". I don't recall what was on page 6 but that's really scraping the bottom of the barrel. He has 15 or so pages weekly so on page 6 he found a winning subset.

Dozens of " CLUBS " and the next week on TV you see one of them went 3 - 0, when all " Clubs " combined 3 - 10, but you never hear that. MARKETING
First and foremost - I did not bash Teddy. Simply pointing out more of what Fezz has been saying, a goofy year is taking place. Truth be told, I have made much more money following Teddy than I have lost. I don't follow blindly however. I'll sniff around other sites (like this one) and see what you sharps are banging. When I match up 2-3 solid, reputable guys I hit it. I don't have the time to handicapp myself, but am aware of the basics. Just enough to be dangerous!

People who buy picks don't want to hear 55% over the long haul is about as good as it's going to get for a non-originator (which obviously most buying picks are). they also don't want to hear that they should be betting .5% to 2% of their bankroll per play - probably don't even understand it. And the touts can't advertise/educate on these two points because it would eliminate most their clients - guys who have a couple grand maybe and want to bet $200 or more a game, when they should be betting $20 a game, which of course wouldn't make the purchase price worthwhile. I'm 50/50 on SM - I used to buy their plays but not anymore (my betting unit doesn't make it worthwhile). I come from the Big 4 CPA/SEC world and it's all about "disclosure" - if SM and all others would stop with the "runs" and just CLEARLY disclose LT results without prejudice they would be 100% legit IMO. But they can't - Teddy's long term record of 55% is outstanding and that's all that should be disclosed. But again, IMO, most tout clients don't want to hear it - pros will take that any day of the week and twice on Tuesday. But what gets me 10x more than SM, is ESPN radio - the Gmen? This so called "investment" guy doing spots with Mitch in the afternoon? I'm actually surprised someone hasn't caught on to ESPN letting these scammers on their network and calling them out on it. Total joke.

I am surprised Chris Russo would let those ad spots go on his channel, unless they are that hard up to find advertisers.
Bob, The tone you reflect in your post stating I just passed blame is not accurate. I apologized and explained the situation. You make it sound like I just said...it was a customer service mistake deal with it. Not a fair assessment of my response at all.
Thanks for providing the full text of your response to the "Teddy hitting 67%" issue. I will stand by my comment that: 1. You apparently blamed the newly hired customer service people for generating the copy. 2. You blamed them (or someone else in the office, it wasn't clear) for not catching the blatantly deceiving copy. Nowhere did I perceive you as accepting responsibity for the error. Obviously, in fairness, you did apologize for the error and state that you attempt to grade with WA lines. I did not want to give the impression that you didn't respond to the criticism at all. I'll let the readers make their own judgments.
Bob, This might help. We we pronoun, pl in constr \ˈwē\ : I and the rest of a group that includes me : you and I : you and I and another or others : I and another or others not including you —used as pronoun of the first person plural — compare i, our, ours, us
I started tracking him in late Feb 2009. He does have the best Sportsmemo overall record over this period, however 55.7% is NOT even close to the BEST in the world in 2010. For example, RAS's record is CBB: 58.50% for 2009-10, 64.00% for 2010-11 and CFB: 67.80% for 2009-10, 59.32% for 2010-11 Teddy's record, all sports: Feb-Dec, 2009: 378-342, 52.50%, +5.70u Jan-mid Nov, 2010: 433-345, 55.7%, +69.75u
I have to agree with you Bob that RAS has the best record. The only problem I have with that is one thing. Eddie's record is his send out number. I had his service the last 2 years. I got most of the plays in... but not all..this year was a different story......I did not get any totals in... and it got worse after the 1st week in CFB. Not everyone gets that record... and let's forget the shop around stuff....there are so many outs out there that take RAS. I could not even join this hoop season....Eddie is playing just before the release... that is the reason why people cannot get in. Some of the books have the service also. Working in some of the shops years ago will sharpen one up.... private phone numbers for special clients and deals that are made for the player are made as long as the book gets hit first in return. Nothing has changed in over 25 years and maybe more.
True story. Last year I win the first eight weeks of the season. I was lucky to get five calls or e mails from clients or listeners to my shows thanking me. I then lost the next two weeks. You would have thought the roof was caving in. I got over 20 calls and e mails.
No one is making you sell picks Lee. If the harassment is so hurtful then just keep those winners to yourself. I'll repeat my earlier statement here. There's a reason why people sell picks. It isn't to help people out.
