Thoughts On Game

Thoughts On Game Well, my Bama BCS future cashed and lessened the pain of a bad CF year. My thoughts on game: 1) Thought Saban coached very poorly in this one. Not deferring opening kickoff was an error I thought and then the fake punt, long FG attempt in 2H, Texas converting some very long 3rd downs in 2H on those bubble screens due to Bama blitzing too much in those 3rd long situations - let alone shutting off the offense in the 2H until it was too late. I made my future bet in large part due to my belief Saban is the best around but I thought he coached a lousy game tonight. 2) IMO outside of McCoy injury, Play of Game was INT TD at end of 1H - if Texas goes up 21-17 on that 2nd TD of 2H I don't think Bama comes back to score with way McElroy was playing tonight. Brown made an error there but it was also a fluke INT. 3) Overall, I think Texas wins game if McCoy not hurt - I think I had it wrong. But like Dude says, we'll never know for sure. Some many things change - maybe if McCoy isn't out or that INT TD doesn't happen, Bama doesn't shut it down at half either. Lot of if's and no way to know. But I think it would have been real close either way. Bama's D was not that dominant til getting the sack TO at end of the game that led to the 2 late TD's.

Yes, there is no way to know what would have happened had McCoy not got injured.
Agree all around. I had Texas, but do think Bama played it very vanilla and knew their defense could probably take care of an 18 pt ht lead.
I second that. Not that it would've been as good as the epic Leinart-Young matchup a few years ago, but it certainly would have been much more meaningful of a game if McCoy didn't go down. But props to the Alabama D for hammering him with the hit. It's a part of the game--and I incorporated it into my handicapping. LOL (Lucky break.)

I got to thinking. Did Texas setup the Bama fage FG by acting like the corners were coming then at the snap dropping someone off to actually cover the gunners? Seemed like the kicker and the gunner weren't on the same page. As if Saban said if they rush everyone, just toss it out to the gunner to get the FD. Seemed like Texas was baiting them to try it?
my thoughts are that this game was a learning lesson in my young career. i have learned that its not worth it to load up on just one game with many different types of bets JUST CUASE ITS A "BIG" GAME. That being said, I will continue to bet game ML on dogs for any championship game, but there is no reason to have O/U, 1h, quarters, etc. I dont even watch games i bet on but bet all this funky bs because i knew i would be watching this one. wasnt worth it. I hope someone cashed nicely, it wasnt me.

Good write-up IMSM

Only Sabin knows why he thought he might need trickery at that time. IMSM

The QB's just can't take the hits as we saw tonight w/ McCoy of Texas. Now an NFL QB won't be let in the locker room if he cannot "take a hit". Think back to that hit that Justin Tuck put on Tom Brady w/ 25 seconds left in that SuperBowl 2 years ago when the NYG pulled off that great upset( I lost SERIOUS coin that game). Had that been either of the 2 starting QB's tonight both would have been carried off. Point is that Brady, Manning( both), Rivers, Brees, etc. they can withstand the "hits" of the game. The ability to take such punishment IS THE FIRST REQUIREMENT of any pro QB. Ask any scout; they should admit the truth to you. McCoy can't take the hit. Pro career doubtful. IMSM
Geez, then what sport do you put serious coin on? I love the NBA, have done well there. But also have done well in CFB. I admire people who do well in the NFL as that is the hardest sport for me to cap. Just because a QB goes down in CFB is no reason to avoid playing it with serious wagers.
