Two new things happened to me over the weekend

Nobody is saying not to do them and that they don't make (some) money. You're missing the information that people are telling you about scalps on your own question. I've done hundreds of these scalps. Not one. You asked if they're worth looking for but every time someone chimes back with an answer that is basically "No" you prefer to argue that the answer is "Yes". There is no right answer. But myself I agree with Sundown and I'm adding my own 2 cents. There aren't that many especially within the state of Nevada only and you aren't the only one who would bet them if found so you may even miss one or two that you hoped for. I'll also warn you that although you don't see why playing the off number is blindly a winning strategy at the moment, I encourage you to do some more research in that area to help you answer your own question because the answer will very likely be in the long run that you will win money playing that off number. You may still determine that you prefer to scalp the number but Sundown has a very good answer here. And there aren't loads of them even with all of the offshore outs and without them the answer is more no. It is all relative. You're way ahead because you do a few of those a year? Unfortunately, I will be critical here too. It is pretty obviously a world where 50 bucks just doesn't mean that much anymore. Agreed you can't earn much interest risk free in your bank. The scalps are better but it is still not alot of money. Of course scalps aren't really risk free which is another reason you can earn more money but I won't get into that.
Unfortunately, I will be critical here too.
I have a feeling that you do that a lot . . . thanks for the reply.
May as well hear the truth. Believe me I wouldn't bother answering these questions if I didn't think I liked you or the board in general.
It's a fair point. Some users I just ignore, and I'm sure some ignore me for the same reason. You've already contributed a fair amount, and you'll become better by absorbing what others have to say, as hopefully we all will. This is a nice little place to pick up a few tips without a lot of attitude.

There is a poster on another sportsbetting board who finds tons of scalps offshore which is much easier if you have Pinnacle access. Over time, he realized that his profits would have been dramatically larger if he would have simply wagered at the other books and ignored the Pinnacle side of the scalp. The reason....the Pinnacle side has the accurate number, and the other books are where the value is. As another poster pointed out above, you will be making plays that have -ev with Pinnacle, even though you will profit every time on the scalp. But over the long haul, if you ignore the Pinnacle scalp you'll do much better, even though you will takes some lumps now and again. I will only play both sides of a scalp if I am unsure where the value is....and this may occur frequently. Or, in rare circumstances, you may have value on both sides of the scalp.

I've dabbled with WSEX and Pinnacle & Matchbook (when they took US customers) but now that I'm based in Vegas I'd rather go with the joints where I know I can collect rather than sweat the payout or the rollover or whatever. So, are there rock solid books that are open to the US?
Your best bet is too find a way to bet with Pinnacle. It is not hard to do if you ask around. Others that are reputable.....5dimes, bookmaker, betdsi, bovada (old bodog), Heritage.

I didn't think Heritage was reputable. I know they were at one time and I had an account with them. But I thought I heard rumors about them stiffing some players?
You're thinking of WSEX. https://www.sportsbookreview.com/sportsbooks/ is an excellent resource
