UFC 104: Machida vs. Shogun

UFC 104: Machida vs. Shogun Did pretty well my last time out with these. Here's tonight's card from the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Lyoto Machida (-165 By TKO) over Shogun Rua Fight to End in Round 3 (+350) Not laying -500 here. However, Machida will finish by TKO. I think both guys will take at reast Round 1 to be conservative and feel each other out. In R2, I think Shogun at least has enough to hang in for a round, then Machida lays him out in R3. Cain Velasquez (+100 by Decision) over Ben Rothwell Not laying -335 with Cain either. Rothwell is a more game opponent than given credit for. Josh Neer/Gleison Tibau (-140) to go to Decision Gleison Tibau (-125) over Josh Neer Gleison Tibau (+160 by Decision) over Josh Neer Joe Stevenson (-240) over Spencer Fisher Joe Stevenson (-105 By Decision) over Spencer Fisher Anthony Johnson (-170) by KO over Yoshyuki Yoshida Yoshyuki Yoshida (+375) by Sub over Anthony Johnson Yoshyuki Yoshida (+300) over Anthony Johnson Johnson shouldn't be this big a fav. Overrated off prev performances. Yoshida's brutal KO loss to Josh Koscheck still too fresh in people's minds. Antoni Hardonk (-145) over Pat Barry Yushin Okami (-270) over Chael Sonnen Rob Kimmons (-170) over Jorge Rivera Kyle Kingsbury (-125) over Razak Al-Hassan Chase Gormley (-235) over Stefan Struve
I'm a big UFC fan, but I wouldn't dare go swimming in the shark-infested betting waters. Take Machida for instance. I've seen a number of his fights, and it seems like nobody's been able to even hit him. Tito almost put a triangle on him but that's the only time he's been under any duress. So, -500 would seem like easy money, right? Yeah, but these guys are dangerous and anything can happen (just ask GSP!). -165 on a TKO? Maybe a better bet, but sometimes the line between TKO and KO gets blurred. I dunno. Anyway, glad to see a fellow fan and GL!
machida badest man in ufc, fought since out of the womb, fights straight up, can't get close enouph to land any punch and he's the type who dectates pace of the fight, he'll finish it when HE decides
If this was 2005 and in PRIDE, I'd pick Shogun with no hesitation, but this is 2009. While Shogun is still a top 5 guy at 205, he's nowhere near as good as he was.

I don't know, Mose. I'd rate it a tossup between him and Anderson Silva. Kinda sucks that they're buddies and won't go head to head...that would be one for the ages, wouldn't it?
Silva finally looked beatable after ufc 90 vs Cote & 97 vs. Leites. Machida took out Rashad Evans seemily at will. How would you rate it? Machida -165 just a guess
I'd make it: Machida -155 A. Silva +125 This fight will not happen anytime soon, no matter how much Dana White wants it. Ed Soares manages both fighters. If Dana presses too much, Soares has some leverage to take these fighters to Strikeforce/CBS/Showtime if this Fedor experiment draws good ratings. I don't see that happening, but this fight isn't likely happen.
I'd have to make Machida the fave, he's just so dominating right now. I'm thinking around -130 to -140, so no action with Shooter!
boxing vs ufc, glad we don't have to choose nothing including the kentucky derby compares to a big time championship fight. after watching floyd jr beat marquis I give manny little chance, jr just to big for him
Wow. I had it 48-47 Shogun and you could've made an argument for 49-46. According to Dave Meltzer at Yahoo Sports, not one person on press row had the fight for Machida and he got a Unanimous Decision. Cain Velasquez got over as a huge star tonight, even though that was a premature stoppage.
