Wednesday Baseball Tampa Bay at Los Angeles
The Angels are bringing up Trevor Bell from Salt Lake City to make his Major League debut today against the Rays. Bell was the Angels first round choice in the 2005 baseball draft. He posted a 3.15 ERA in Triple A and a 2.23 ERA in Double A this season. He will have the advantage against the Rays tonight since obviously they have never seen him.
Tampa goes with Jeff Niemann who is making his second start of the season vs the Angels. In the first meeting Los Angeles lit him up with a .438 batting average and .688 slugging percentage. He has been inconsistent as of late and his last two road starts show 9 earned runs in 13 innings of work. Only 2 of his last 8 road starts were quality starts.
Tampa has had big problems as of late winning in Anaheim. They are just 1-12 here since their manager left the Angels organization to take over the Rays. We expect that streak to continue.
