Week 2 survival football thread

Week 2 survival football thread For those of us who play, we may as well have a weekly thread. At first glance, there are 3 maybe 4 choices for week 2: Minn > Det GB > Cin Wash > STL Tenn > Hou Fundamentally, I would throw out Minn and Tenn, as they are divisional games, and Minn because they are on the road. Still, it's Minn at Detroit, and I'd be willing to put a pick or two on that, Adrian P should run for big numbers over the weak defense, and Stafford still is learning how to play. Probably MOTS for us Detroit fans. Can STL upset Washington again, like they did last year? Last year, STL went in there at 12 pt dogs, and won outright. Tenn, again, divisional game, Hou always plays tough. That leaves us with Green Bay. What are others looking at?
Definitely Green Bay Minnesota away in a divisional rivalry - no thanks. Tennesee in a divisional rivalry against a Houston team that got their asses kicked at home last week - no thanks. Washington might be a pick, but I am not confident enough in them. A thing that speaks against St. Louis is that they are playing an early start time, a couple hours earlier than their normal time zone. But I still am not confident enough in Washington and their QB. Besided Washington might be a pick later against Kansas, if they show they are good the next couple weeks. That leaves Green Bay. They beat divisional rivals Chicago in week 1, which gives confidence. In week 3 they have a game in St. Louis, which is not a high focus game. And their schedule at home is pretty tough - this might be their only easy home game. Cincinnati has a disadvantage. A bad loss at home last week and an important homegame against divisional rivals Pittsburgh next week. Im on Green Bay. I actually considered taking a bye this week, but think Green Bay is the pick this week. In my league we have one bye and one possible loss (we are only about 30 participants).
I also have it between Green Bay and Washington, but I have chosen Washington. Green Bay has two games with Detroit. After their defense got after Chicago and made Cutler look lost, I believe a rookie QB will be over matched and will use the Pack against him.
bengals 27 packers 17.....F

Just my $.02, but I would NEVER go with a road favorite, unless it was >7 points and the rest of the card was 3 point chalk or less. I know it looks like a lock, but weird things happen to road faves in the NFL, I've seen it a million times. So scratch Minny. I'd also scratch Tenn. Too short a number vs angry, humiliated Texans who I can tell you are hearing it loud and clear from the fans here in Houston. That leaves you Skins or Cheese. Tough call. Handicapping-wise I like the Bengals, 9 points looks way high, but the Packers are a team you're going to want to pick this year, and the only other sweet spot for them will be Week 6. However, there will be plenty of other games to pick from that week. There aren't many good spots for the Skins either, the Rams totally blow, so I'd go ahead and grab the Skins now and deal with GB down the road. WASHINGTON REDSKINS
