Why is there no record keeping on this site?
Oh no. I respect Gordon as a handicapper and think he is a winner, but it's often difficult to get the numbers he likes to put out. I find him beyond unreasonable as a person and cannot have dealings.
Thanks Anthony.
Old School - "I post my record every week. Up 91 units the last two football seasons, all plays for one net unit. After today I'm 8-6, +1.88 units this year with Denver -2 1/2 -110 left this week..." Actually you took Denver -2 1/2 -117. Here's your post: "08-25-2009, 07:47 AM Old School VIP Member Join Date: Jul 2009 Posts: 75 Carolina and Denver -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- #270 Carolina -3 -101 #280 Denver -2 1/2 -117"
Old School - "Two years ago, I won 22 units by betting early numbers when I would have lost by betting closing lines. Timing the market is actually probably more important than handicapping." What do you do when the market moves away from the line you bet at? At kickoff tonight, Pinny had Denver - 2 1/2 +105, which is 22 cents away from your posted line for the play. I didn't see any further posts from you regarding the Denver play, so I assume you don't get off plays and just live with them? I also assume that even though you liked them at -117, you didn't buy any more at +105?
No. There are far too many variables in trying to strictly quantify these results. I used to have this problem when Dan Gordon was on our site (and please don't let this stimulate a Gordon slamfest). I'd defend his "ambitious" numbers by saying that if you had enough outs and monitored his board religiously, you could get his numbers. And that was true. But it applied to a tiny fraction of those involved. I say keep your own records, because you should analyze based on your own conditions. And if you want to see how well a specific poster is doing, it's not that hard to go back and compile. One more point, as we've stated many times, we are not positioning this board as a "picks service." By the way, I don't mind being challenged on this. I'm fairly firm on it, but am willing to listen.
Good f'n posting.
