Sonoma Cellar MRB Coupon - Read the Fine Print!

I am very disappointed. My sister is coming to visit, and I was going to take her to visit the Henderson casinos this weekend. I thought we'd use the MRB coupon at Sonoma Cellar at Sunset Station, until I read the fine print on the back. First of all, you can't just present the coupon to the server at the restaurant, as you can with other coupons. You have to go to the hotel gift shop and purchase a $50 gift card for $25. And here's the kicker -- YOU CAN'T USE THE GIFT CARD UNTIL THE NEXT DAY!

There is no way I'm making 2 trips to Henderson. So I guess we won't be using this coupon.

Very interesting, Sue. Thanks for pointing this out. So often we go through coupons and decide which ones we might use, but seldom read the fine print on the back. From now on, I'm reading the fine print.
In June they told me if I used the coupon for the gift card, I couldn't use the gift card for payment of the restaurant specials. Their loss as we ordered 2 entrees that were part of the restaurant specials and 1 ice tea. Had I been able to use the coupon, we'd have ordered wine, appetizers and dessert.
Lisa, it's generally the case that coupons are not good on specials. They all say "not good with other offers," or something to that effect. Here's what I posted in the "Coupons" board tonight:

"OK, we went to Fuego tonight. BUT -- did not use the MRB coupon, after all. Here's why ...

Fuego is an unusual steakhouse. They do not have prime rib on the menu, and we both wanted prime rib. However, they did have it as a special -- $19.99 for the whole dinner, including soup or salad (we had the lobster bisque - yum!), baked potato, rolls, and veggies (squash/zucchini medley). You can't use a coupon on a special, so another MRB coupon goes down the toilet.

The dinner was excellent, though, and I used my $50 Stations gift card to pay for it (it was a gift to the rewards center staff for a job well done). The manager was very nice about not letting us use the coupon, and he did let me have my 20% team member discount, even though he wasn't supposed to do that with a special, either, lol. Service was excellent from both our server (Fiona) and busperson (Shyla).

Total bill for 2 dinners including 2 cocktails was $47, before the tip."

Sue, the point I made with the manager on duty was, had they not had all the restrictions, we would have ordered more. We may or may not have ordered the prime rib special. At the end of the night, they would have sold more food and wine. We were turned off by all the restrictions and chose to order only the special. We chose to dine at Sonoma because of the MRB coupon. If you decide to trek out to Sunset Station, the new Italian restaurant rocks!
