Why does our shared e-mail address seemingly prohibit my wife from being a member?

I decided not to renew this year because of some of the typical problems listed in this forum (e-mails stating that your subscription is about to lapse when it's not, receiving the newsletter halfway or more into the month, or not at all some months etc.) No big deal. I chose not to renew.
Well my wife, late or not enjoys reading the newsletter, so she said she wanted to join. Of course I didn't have a problem with her making that decision. I told her that although she doesn't really enjoy the place (we tried the buffet ONCE) Terrible's has a good slot loss reimbursement coupon in the MRO section that we could use.( I have mine from when I was still a member last year)
Well she went through the sign-up process online, and everything was hunky dorry ,(name, address, credit card clicked on "complete order", etc.) until a message came up stating that the e-mail address was already on file and to, click on renewal and was prompted to use the previous credentials associated with that e-mail address. which she did..... and BINGO, I'm listed as the member. So what do we need to do to correct this so she can get the MRO coupon.
Keep in mind the credit card info had already been entered, and "complete order" or something to that effect had
been clicked on a previous page.
What does the fact that we share the e-mail address have to do with her desiring to become a member. She has an e-mail address at work, but it is only for work. and rarely gets on the computer at home, thus she has no need for her own e-mail address at home.

Thanks
Thanks for the quick response. I will do that.
