Big Mistake

As a long time subscriber to the Advisor, I find this new format severely lacking. Apparently the retailing of products has become the new focus of this site. Vegas visitors exchange of information and discussion of such is, apparently, no longer allowed. Congratulations on steering many long time subscribers to alternate Vegas themed info sites. Sad...
First a general statement. We're within the first five hours of a huge launch and there are problems. The site has crashed a couple of times, there are issues with the log-in sequence, broken links, etc. This is standard. We find 'em and fix. The message boards were put up hastily at the end of the development process, so there are sure to be problems here, and we've already encountered them on our end. We're working on them. Specifically, to David, it's clear that you're not impressed, but it would be a lot more helpful if we could get some more focussed input to consider and act on. Can you explain what you mean (or what led you to make the statement) about "products becoming the new focus" and "exchange of information no longer allowed"? Neither is the case, so we'd like to know what gives you that impression. Thanks.
I like what I see so far especially the FAQ section. Going to take time to get used to but I like it. Graphics look great! Thanks Anthony!
Where did the trip reports go????

I can't personal speak for David. I think what he is talking about is the forum does not have many sections in it like before. Also on the right hand side where the product categories. There are many of them. It gives the impression of what David is speaking of. I don't feel that way but can see how that can look. Working in IT I know what a chore this change is. Do you plan on adding the sections in this forum like they were on the old site? Will it always just be these 3 categories?
Not sure yet. We were gonna do away with the MBs and let the comments areas serve, along with hooking up with some FB groups. We'll still do both of those alternatives, but decided very late that pulling the boards would be wrong. So we'll play it as we go, listening to the comments, good and bad, and building in the right way. Gonna need some MB monitors, so start putting your hats in the ring.
Trip reports will become a much bigger feature on this website. They can be posted on the Vegas With an Edge blog accessible from the home page.
Love the pic, AC, makes you look like a mobster :) I think the popups for various sales pitches, which I know HELPS pay the bills when folks click them, are a bother. I wish the message boards were still here, it's where I go before my annual trip to Vegas to get a lot of updated info. I do wish there was something that could be done to bring in the droves of folks who used to troll the message boards, as there was some really good contributors. All in all, the new "look" of the website will take some getting used to. Just hope some of the advertising that is not LVA related, goes away. Ron in NC
I'm trying to find my way around too. I really had to search to find the forums. I want to see what my name looks like when I post this. Edit: well, at least it didn't put in my email address but I'd prefer to have my old user name here instead of my real one. I tried changing it in the account details as Tanya suggested but it wouldn't take.
BTW: the forum clock is an hour slow.
