Buying chips on Comp City Slots

I've enjoyed playing the game, but notice that as you play the rate of earning tickets slows down to almost nothing. AC's post today in gambling with an edge seemed to say that you can fix this by buying chips. Can we get more info on what this means? I have debated purchasing chip packs but decided against it because I figured, "sure, I'll get chips but I could burn through them without earning any tickets." But if the incentive structure was a little more clear, that'd be helpful. I think the type of people that buy LVA each year and that play these games (and ones like myvegas) are willing to spend $, we just want to know what we're getting from it. It's what you've trained us to do by running Jean Scott and Bob Dancer columns! :)

I (and a friend with the same question) also emailed customer support within the app itself and didn't get a response. Any info would be much appreciated! Thank you!

Here is what I'm referring to:

"This is our social-gaming app. It’s also free to play, though the free-play is limited, because it’s a revenue-generating app. With Comp City Slots, you can purchase play time which also leads to earning prizes, e.g., HP books and LVA memberships. The hook here is that you can play video poker at 100%+ levels, so it’s possible (though unlikely) to play for free forever. And it’s for mobile platforms, so you can play it anywhere on your phone. LVA members get a good free-play bonus that will give you extended time on the app."

The short answer is that purchasing coins absolutely generates Comp Tickets. Participating in "boosting events" is the other way to stimulate Comp Ticket accumulation. Boosting events include lobby bonuses, rewarded videos, Facebook Friday, Facebook Friends, VIP Monday Funday, LVA member bonuses, etc. To satisfy social-gaming requirements, prize tickets can be earned only by taking these kinds of actions. Of these, purchasing is the most potent and will get you to the destination fastest. But the comp should be considered as a bonus on top of the entertainment value for playing, because just like any other gambling proposition -- social or real -- the games are engineered to produce a profit over and above the retail value of the prize.
