Changing back to user name instead of real name

THINK I've figured out part of the name change deal. Only change one item at a time in your profile when you go to edit, then save it before making any other changes. Only thing that looks like it's not working....it won't let me take my email out as my "user" name and replace it. I was able to put in my nickname as my....what appears to be.. username, as you see it :) Getting there, slowly but surely.

Follow the info from horserus1 and you should be able to change your user name.

Thanks Horsesrus1 and others. As usual I get more usable information from the members rather then the staff. I like the individuals on the staff but as a group it can be like dealing with the tag department. Now I will try to regain Gold membership.

where do i go to find the avatar? the only avatar i can find when i clock on it wants me to Log into Gravataty or something like that

Ok lets try this i tied this but the name i want to use is not there and i can't put in the name

Go back to your profile and change your first name to what you want your user id to be. Save the changes then go back to the Edit button and see if the user id is now a choice in the display name dropdown menu.
