How come if I want to reply to a posting on the Forum, I often get "Register or Login to reply to this post." even though my membership says I am logged in?

It happens. I'm guessing because sometimes our computers 'log us out'...how I have no idea. Somebody can better explain it. I'll go weeks without having to log in to reply, then suddenly I'm logged out and have to log in before I can reply. No big deal, but it is a mystery.
Years ago in the old LVA, non-members could only reply and post in the FFA Forum "Free For All." Had to join to be able to post in all other forums. So this now is better, even the occasional glitch.

We love LVA, but dear God, whatever company hosts their website is the Keystone Cops of the internet. I've experienced what you describe dozens of times. My guess is that the server stores your IP address when you log in and refers to that on subsequent login attempts. But at some recurring point (every week? every system update? every full moon?), it forgets all that stored data.
One clue I have that makes me suspect that this is the case is that even when I can't log in from my computer, I can still log in from my phone--and the two devices have different IP addresses and the last prior login will always be different.
This is one of dozens of glitches featured on LVA's website. In a way, it's a good thing--whatever company provides their hosting services is mostly harmless. If they were, say, a plumbing repair company, every time they came to unclog your sink, they'd accidentally burn down your house.
