Hi Staff, -- FYI
Was in Vegas Feb. 24-28. Went to the Fontainbleu for the Hall of Excellence. Nowhere on coupon does it say the venue is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Got there on a Wednesday. No luck. We tried again on Thursday. It was open! NOTE: Doesn't open until 10 a.m.
The ticket taker and manager kept me waiting 15 minutes at the entrance while they scrutinized the LVA coupon. No one there knew what it was or how to handle it. It was the first one they had seen.
Finally gave me the 20% off (which amounted to $7) - but acted extremely irritated that they had to handle a coupon.
I assumed this display was open 7 days - it's strange that it isn't. The whole display takes about 30 minutes to see - very small, but some cool historical sports memorabilia. General admission is $35.
What you experienced is very, very common with LVA coupons, particularly those that are new. The casinos almost never brief their foot soldiers and boothlings about current or ongoing promotions. The number of times I've handed someone an LVA coupon, or mentioned one, and been met with a blank, uncomprehending stare is in the hundreds at this point.
An all too frequent response I get is that the coupon doesn't exist or is invalid or doesn't refer to the specific thing I'm asking for or doesn't count during a full moon. I recognize this for what it is: "tell him "no" and hope he'll go away, rather than exert the tremendous effort of asking my supervisor."
This has made me walk out of the casino in disgust and swear never to visit again, which is kinda the exact opposite result for which the coupon was intended.
You should not only be prepared for this; you should expect it. You'll get reactions as if rather than hand them a 25% off coupon, you had given them a gold-plated iguana.
