Do you all think Boyd is done with their participation for good?

Both Boyd and Stations have unequivocally stated, multiple times, that they're not going to participate in any promotions, giveaways, etc. The peasantry will NOT be given any extra crusts of bread.

Now, if there's any ownership changes, that might make a difference...but both companies are going great guns right now and have no real reason to offer any deals. You see, all the new victims flooding into Vegas from California and other states, clutching bags of cash...they don't care about buffets or matchplays or twofers. They have NO price discrimination; the effect is that the "locals' joint" model is slowly disappearing, as illustrated by the permanent death of several such successful casinos in non-gentrified neighborhoods.

Always interesting, I have been taken care of at the Orleans for years. I was surprised to see all the Boyd properties bail, they really did not offer all that much but I have told their people the little stuff gets people in the door.  Without LVA I would not have started gambling at the Orleans. Now I am a regular and the comps I get keep me there.  The new Boyd Rewards is awful so we will see how long I stick with it as they have cut back all promotions and the points you get is criminal.

One of the first signs was quite a while ago---2012, I'm guessing? Sam's Town had this senior day promo where if you were over 50 (55?) and you earned 20 points or some small amount--that would have been $20 coin-in on slots--you got a free breakfast or lunch buffet and a movie ticket for $4. That buffet was PACKED from 7 to 2 and the movie theater, which was a multiplex, would otherwise have been deserted on a Wednesday--but now all the happy seniors were watching movies, some of whom bought drinks and popcorn, etc. I'd say, conservatively, 500 seniors happily trooped through the casino every Senior Day.

Until some suit somewhere in the Boyd organization decided that the promotion was losing money and slammed the door shut.

The casinos, for a decade now, haven't just been saying, "fuck you." They've been screaming it at the top of their lungs.
