Plaza MRB coupon??

Yes, you guys are hitting on all the important points. To pull the max EV, you have to play at the 50¢ BPD game. RF there with the bonus is closer to 1-in-35K hands. Plaza will give up the EV for the variance. Jossel, the guy in charge, is smart. If you play the 25¢ game, no bueno.

The reality in my mind is that this coupon is just good enough to justify heavy play at plaza.  The side benefit of a coupon like this is the follow up offers and free play that are generated.  The $100 coupon at the D is what got us started there and has resulted in many years of visits.  I would love to see more coupons that require extended play to extract value.

The pitfall is that you might have to play longer than you expect in order to hit that royal. I've gone 200,000 hands without one multiple times. And since the only game worth playing under this promo is 9/6 Bonus Deluxe, you have to learn that game well--most people, myself included, don't know the correct strategy. And if you scoff and say that doesn't matter--well, then you're playing a losing game even with the promo, which is what they want.

I think that if you want to play to establish yourself, the .25 JOB games at Plaza are the way to go. You're unlikely to get clobbered, something that can happen all too easily playing BD if the royal stays away

9/6 Bonus Poker Deluxe @ 99.64% is one of the few good video poker games still available to play.  Granted, a Royal can be elusive - or could happen on the very next hand one plays. The bonus offered with this coupon makes playing Bonus Poker Deluxe a positive play - which is all that most video poker players ask for.

If that was true, the vast majority of video poker machines would receive little or no play.

The goal of most recreational gamblers is to have fun, win or lose, and the danger of playing a promo that on average, takes $100,000 to realize the value thereof is that one may lose considerably more money than one is comfortable with. For example, if it takes twice as long as "normal" to get that elusive royal while playing 9/6 BD, you're going to be down well over $4000 before you finally hit it. It's something to consider, positive play or not.

But I'm fairly certain that your post is only because you're stalking me and you want to argue. So please feel free to have the last word--I'm done talking to you.

Be SURE to have the last word!

You MUST have the last word!

And Happy New Year!

You are changing the focus of your original posting --- people who seek to know the value of a coupon - the value seeking video poker players are NOT "recreational" players - they are there for the money. Real "recreational" players are generally unconcerned and uncaring about coupons - they are there , as you say, to have fun. Try to stay on the topic you started which concerned the value of the coupon to value seeking video poker players.

Seriously you two?

Take it to lowest terms. Whatever the goal or motivation, the good bonus makes it better.

100% correct.  I view coupons as a nice addition to what I would be doing anyway.  Add in the follow up free play and comp offers and almost any reasonable game makes sense even if you are basing your decision purely on math.  A coupon like this really shouldn't be viewed in a vacuum unless you plan on it being a one time play and never returning.
