Someone, I forget their name now, was nice enough to call me back (from Reservations). It seems that there was a glitch that made the total room rate quoted by the website dumbbot only include the 30% discount, not the resort fee waiver. If you went ahead and input all your credit card info and authorized the larger charge, the bot would adjust it THEN. But of course, it wouldn't tell you...and for all you knew, you'd be stuck with resort fees. So I didn't hit the "BOOK" button.
A friend who I described this to suspects this was a leftover from the recently ended "surprise resort fee" era, when you would book at a low price only to find out that the $952 nightly resort fee hadn't been included in the total.
Anyway, I booked five nights Sun-Thurs at a total cost of $67. Now, all that's needed is for the Rio to educate its phonelings and desklings and most of all, Rio Rita. When I called to verify my reservation, the dumbling looked at the $67 total cost and said there must be some mistake. She had never heard of LVA nor seen the offer code.
Which is smarter, the staff of a large hotel or a cage full of chimpanzees who have gotten into their keeper's whiskey supply?
