I may make a quick jaunt in a couple of weeks. I'll try out $13 rooms with full pay VP. Also have Palms across the way and want to try the Asian place over at Gold Coast.

I want to provide a data point. I just booked Dec 23-28 using LVA25 promo code (Yes - there is a field to enter Promo code) and resort fees were waived.

Did you WANT the "high floor upgrade"? Without it, the room prices for those dates are $16/16/16/74/128. You're getting pounded for over $160 (plus tax) for a marginally improved view out the window. Absolutely not worth it. I would cancel and rebook.
I would also note, if the view is that important to you, that "low floor" is all the way up to the 22nd floor, and you can call them and ask for that; there won't be any upcharge.
I strongly suspect that what happened here is when you booked online, you accidentally accepted the upgrade offer. It's kind of hard to avoid.
You may have a bitch of a time getting your original deposit back (you'd think it would happen automatically, but noooo...you'll have to call, claw your way past the Rio Rita bot, and talk to a reservation agent to get your deposit refunded, but it will happen; the cancellation itself can be done with Rio Rita).
