A Site Bug That Needs To Be Addressed

Kevin first reported this a couple of months ago and I experienced the same thing.  That is once I logged into the PC desktop version of the site using Chrome, I could no longer load the site at all using the phone version of Chrome on my android device. 

 

I got a new phone a couple of weeks ago and logged in to LVA using Chrome on the phone.  Once I did that, the site will no longer load on my PC using Chrome.

 

You get a white page along with the following error message.

 

Bad Request Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand. Size of a request header field exceeds server limit.

 

I suspect it is a cookie problem.

Yep, and what happens is as soon as I log in with one device the other becomes disabled.

 Microsoft Edge (replaced Internet Explorer) is also not working now.  Edge is now based upon Chromium.  I have to delete my LVA cookies every time I revisit the site either in Chrome or Edge. I can't imagine this is good for server load as all of my LVA cached images have to reload manually as well. Anyway, I suspect users that aren't technically savvy will have a tough time determining where to delete individual cookies. You might want to look into what is causing the problem.

I've cleared my phone's cookies and emptied the cache half a dozen times, but LVA still doesn't load on my Android phone. On my laptop, LVA seems to hate Firefox with a passion but it tolerates Microslop Edge.

 

I get an odd effect when I'm posting on the forum. The bleepity blanking popup ads reset every minute or so. When they do, if I'm typing, the input screen freezes and nothing I type shows. I have to delete the popup ad (which doesn't work for long) before I can continue.

 

Whatever server company is hosting LVA's website, LVA shouldn't pay the bill. It's been a glitch-fest for the last couple of years. I've never seen any website so buggy.

No problems on my Windows laptop or Android with Chrome.

The same bug has followed me across three different Android phones and two windows laptops. The only device that seems to be unaffected is my Chromebook.

So were you running Chrome on them?

Yes, my workaround had been to use edge but since that is based on chrome now, it has quit working.  I can delete the cookies but as soon as I login on one device it kills the others. I can also login manually on each visit in incognito but none of my browser extensions work in that mode.

My best guess is that is related to having two installations of WP in different folders using the same member DB.  Eventually, the cookies end up looking for the wrong URL. 

 

lasvegasadvisor.com and shop/lasvegasadvisor.com
